f(x)=2x-1/3x+5
the rate of change in the intervals given is calculated using the formula:
[f(b)-f(a)]/(b-a)
Given that our interval is [0,8], the rate of change will be:
f(8)=2(8)-1/3(8)+5
f(8)=18 1/3

also:
f(0)=2(0)-1/3(0)+5
f(0)=5
thus the rate of change will be:
(18 1/3-5)/(8-0)
=(13 1/3)/8
=1 2/3
