The two angles are same-side angles, which means they add up to 180°. Make an equation where they equal 180.

x + 48 = 180
Subtract 48 from both sides.

x = 132

now, the x°  and the 48° are both linear angles, and therefore they add up to 180°, thus

x° + 48° = 180°
