to solve for a, multiply both sides of a/c=d/r by c and you will get a=c(d/r)

[tex]\frac{a}{c} = \frac{d}{r}\ leads to\ a = \frac{cd}{r}[/tex] by virtue of multiplying both sides by c to cancel it on the left
