If an organism or animal cell suddenly lost the ability to produce GTP, the signaling system would not be  activated and it will inactivate the G protein on the cytoplasmic side of the plasma membrane. In addition, the signal transduction pathway will only be initiated when a signal molecule binds to a receptor.
