First, we know that there are 5 poles. Next, we know that the equation [tex]\frac{n(n-1)}{2}[/tex] represents the amount of strings needed if we have n number of poles. Therefore, we can plug 5 poles into n (as n represents the amount of poles) to get [tex]\frac{5(5-1)}{2}[/tex] =[tex]\frac{5*4}{2}[/tex]  = 10 as our answer.
