We observe that ,

First term : a=9

Common difference between the terms= 1-9=-8

For Arithmetic sequence , the formula to find the nth term is given by :-

[tex]a_n=a+(n-1)d[/tex]

[tex]a_{38}=9+(-8)(38-1)\\\\=9-8(37)=9-296=-287[/tex]
