According to Boyle's law  for constant temperature of gas Pressure is inversely proportional to the volume of gas.

[tex]PV=constant[/tex]

[tex]P\propto \frac{1}{V}[/tex]

if Pressure is tripled then

[tex]P\times V_1=3P\times V_2[/tex]

[tex]V_2=\frac{V_1}{3}[/tex]

Volume becomes one-third of original volume
