We have
[tex] \frac{8}{40} [/tex]
To simplify it we can divide numerator and denumerator by the same number (the greatest possible is the best)
[tex] \frac{8}{40}= \frac{8:8}{40:8} = \frac{1}{5} [/tex] - its the simples form..

It is 1/5 because 8/40 divided by 5 is 1/5
