Step 1: Divide both sides by -2

[tex]3y+5= \frac{-4}{-2} [/tex]

Step 2:
Simplify [tex] \frac{4}{-2} [/tex] to [tex]- \frac{4}{2} [/tex]

[tex] 3y+5=\frac{4}{2} [/tex]

Step 3: Simplify [tex] \frac{4}{2} [/tex] to 2

3y + 5 = 2

Step 4: Subtract 5 from both sides

3y = 2 - 5

Step 5:
Simplify 2 - 5 to −3

3y = -3

Step 6:
Divide both sides by 3

[tex] y= -\frac{3}{3} [/tex]

Step 7: Cancel 3

y = -1

Done! :) your answer is y = -1 3
