If g(1) = 0 and g(n) = g(n-1) + n, then g(2) = 2

The given relationship is:

g(1) = 0

g(n) = g(n-1) + n

g(2) = ?

Since g(1) is already known

g(2)  =   g(1)  +  2

Note that g(1) = 0

Substitute g(1) = 0 into g(2)  =   g(1)  +  2

g(2) = 0  +  2

g(2)  =  2

Therefore, if g(1) = 0 and g(n) = g(n-1) + n, then g(2) = 2
