Let the length of missing side be x

[tex] x = \sqrt{({17}^{2} }-{15}^{2}) \\ x = \sqrt{289 - 22} \\ x = \sqrt{64} \\ x = 8[/tex]

The hypotenuse(17) is the longest side of a right-angle triangle so the other value(15) is minused from it .
