A system of equations with no solution would show parallel  lines. We just have make a equation that is parallel to the original equation.

The slope of 2x + 8y = 12 is [tex]-\frac{1}{4}[/tex], and it's y-intercept is [tex]\frac{3}{2}[/tex].

Since parallel lines have the same slope but not the same y-intercept, I would use [tex]y=-\frac{1}{4}x+3[/tex].

Any equation that has -1/4 as the slope would work.  

When graphed together, they show as a system with no solution.
