If we are in the real numbers, we don't have solutions:

[tex]x^2 +49 = 0 \implies x^2 = -49 \implies x \not\in\mathbb{R}[/tex]

If we go beyond:

[tex]x^2 +49 = 0 \implies x^2 = -49 \implies x = \pm\sqrt{-7^2} \implies x = \pm7i[/tex]
