[tex] \frac{3}{a} [/tex] = [tex] \frac{9}{a} [/tex] + 2

Multiply both sides by [tex] a [/tex] to get rid of the fractions.

3 = 9 + 2a >> 2a + 9 = 3 (just flipped it but its still the same)

Subtract 9 from both sides to get only the variable, 2a.

2a + 9 - 9 = 3 - 9 >> 2a = -12

Simplify.

a = [tex] \frac{-12}{2} [/tex]
a = -6!
