A perpendicular bisector of a line segment is a line which divides the line segment into two equal parts. So here, PS = PQ

=》 PS = 3a

=》 PQ = a + 16

PS = PQ

3a = a + 16

3a - a = 16

2a = 16

a = 16/2

a = 8.
