6x - 9y - 7x + -6y

To simplify the expression add the like terms

The like terms are the terms which have the same variable and same degree

6x, -7x are like terms

-9y, -6y are like terms

So let us add them

(6x + -7x) + (-9y + -6y)

6 + -7 = -1

6x + -7x = -x

-9 + - 6 = -15

-9y + -6y = -15y

(6x + -7x) + (-9y + -6y) = -x + -15y
