OK so basically the colonists rejected the Albany plan of union because it would take away the power that the local colonial governments had.

Although the Albany Plan of Union was abandoned, it caused the American colonists to begin thinking of the colonies as separate from Britain.

In the end they separated from Britain, but that was the beginning of it all.
