Blood picks up nutrient from the digestive system and takes it into the cells. The jejunum in the small intestine is the site of nutrients absorption into the blood. The nutrients which are absorbed into the blood stream are carried by the blood into the cells of the body. Cells use these nutrients for their metabolic activities.
