How many electrons are in the n = 2 shell of the oxygen atom before bonding?

ATOMIC NUMBER= 8
This means it has total 8 electrons.
First comes K(n=1) shell. It can hold a maximum of 2 electrons. So we are left with 6 electrons which are accomodated in L(n=2) shell before bonding.
