I believe that the school of yoga which asks its practitioners to wear white is Kundalini yoga.
It has to do with awakening your kundalini energy, which is located somewhere around your spine, according to Hindu beliefs. Once you awaken that energy, you will be spiritually enlightened. In order to achieve that, you should wear white because it reflects the positivity of your soul.
