Kudzu was brought to the USA to prevent erosion. What role does it play today

Kudzu is an invasive plant that has now overtaken huge areas of land. It is difficult to get rid of and spreads very quickly, often times killing other plants in its path. While it did prevent erosion, it is now a nuisance.
