From what I can deduce, using the Unit Price is the best way to compare the cost of two different sizes in items. It would depend on the price of the Item per units to justify buying the larger item over the smaller item and the opposite is true as well. I hope this is helpful.

First find the unit price for each. Then compare the unit prices. The item that has the lesser unit cost is the better buy.
