determine if x+2 is a factor of p(x) = x4 + 3x3 +4x2 -8

Yes it is.

p(-2)=(-2)^4+3*(-2)^3+4*(-2)^2-8
=16-24+16-8=0

p(x)=(x+2)(x^3+x^2+2x-4)
