By 1972, delegates to the
democratic national convention met primarily to ratify decisions already made
by primary voters. Since 1832, the Democratic National Convention (DNC) holds
every four years. It’s at the DNC that the United States Democratic Party nominates
and confirms a candidate for president and vice president.
