Sublimation is a process of converting the phase of a certain substance from solid to gas directly, without passing through the liquid state. In order to do this, forces should be overcome through application of heat or any other method.

The intermolecular forces that hold together the components or the atoms in the compound CO2 is the London-dispersion forces.
